How it is made: Independent Trading Co. 4000 hooded sweatshirt
The Independent Trading Co. 4000 starts as undyed fleece. Before any panel is cut, the fabric goes through its dye bath — color decided at the material stage, not added as a finish later. Only once the shade is set does the fabric get cut and sewn into the garment you'd recognize.
Embroidery waits until the end. Stitching after dye means the thread sits on a finished, stable garment — no dye bath running over fresh stitching, no shade shifting underneath the mark. And there's one placement only: chest-left. Nothing across the back, nothing down the sleeve.
It's a deliberate sequence. Dye lands before the fabric ever becomes panels, so color is part of the cloth rather than a coating on it. Embroidery follows, onto a hoodie that has already reached its final color.
Dye, cut, sew, stitch — in that order.
