How a Comfort Colors 6030 BC 3001 Staple Tee gets made, in order.

The blank is sewn first — body, sleeves, pocket, all stitched together in undyed cotton. Only then does it go into the dye bath. That's what garment-dye means: the finished shirt takes its color, not a bolt of fabric. Dyeing after construction is why seams, hems, and collars absorb the dye a little differently than the flat panels — slight variation there is part of the shirt, not a defect.

The wash cycles that follow do two jobs: set the color and settle the shrinkage before the shirt ever ships. What you pull out of the bag on day one is the fit you keep.

Embroidery comes after the dye, never before. Thread run through a dye bath takes color differently than the cotton around it, so the mark goes on once the cloth is final.
